EAST
DISTRICT PROGRAMS:
125th Anniversary Thank Offering:
1879-2004 - Originally the Canada District, then Ontario
District of LCMS, the region is now known as the East District of
LCC. During the triennial period of 2003 to 2006, the District
celebrated its 125 years of history with a Thank Offering to raise
$1.25 million. Specific interest areas for these funds were identified at
the outset. Projects began in 2006 and continue to help
congregations across the District.

Social Ministry Survey:
The explanation of the
fifth commandment teaches us to care for our neighbor, "to help and
support him in every physical need." This is our Christian
duty and this is Social Ministry.
As your congregation assesses its social ministry needs, you may
find this downloadable guide helpful. " A
Guide to Involving Your Congregation in Social Ministry" (Note:
this is not LCC material but has been reviewed by DFO.
Our Department for
Outreach, Social Ministry Committee, would like to learn what our
East District congregations are doing—that they might share concepts
or programs and ideas with each other.
If we could gather this information by the end of this church year
or Advent, the committee could compile the resources and return a
summary as a guide for all our congregations.
Consider these questions as a starting point.
